With WebID AVS (Age Verification System), clients can verify their age fully automated and with the use of Biometrics from anywhere in the world. The German Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media (KJM) has now evaluated WebID AVS positively – as one of the first products of its kind after the approval of the new product category.
WebID Solutions GmbHs WebID AVS, an innovative product for the fully automated online age verification based on biometrics, has been evaluated positively by the KJM. Prior to this evaluation, the KJM initially approved the new product category in December 2019 - a decision in which WebID had a significant part. The German Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media is an institution of the German state media authorities and main contact point for the protection of minors in private TV, radio and internet in the country.
“We are delighted about this recognition of our product WebID AVS through the German Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media”, says Frank S. Jorga, Founder and CEO of WebID. “In our increasingly digital world, the protection of minors online is extremely important. Simultaneously, companies have to ensure that they are acting according to the legal laws and regulations when selling their products and services online. With WebID AVS we can ensure both – quick and easily.”
Companies that incorporate WebID AVS into their sales processes, can check whether their customers are of age worldwide. About 7000 ID documents from 194 countries can be verified by WebID AVS. Additionally, WebID allows growing industries such as Online Gaming an effective instrument to significantly increase their security standards nationally and internationally.
The KJM writes in their press release: “After the review of the concepts, the KJM came to the conclusion, that (…) WebID Solutions GmbHs’ “WebID AVS” is suitable in the submitted version and with the appropriate implementation as a module on the level of identification in accordance with KJM-criteria for the securing of a closed user group for adults under the German youth in media protection treaty (JMStV).”
The Age Verification System is easy to use: the customer simply needs to take a photo of the front and back of their ID card as well as of their face. Then the system makes sure that the ID card is authentic and matches the photo of the customers face to the one on the card using biometric data. If successful, the age is verified – in under a minute. Companies can incorporate this fast and easy process directly into their procedures and identification systems.
